Lala Kent isn’t convinced that Danny Booko has changed since filming season three of The Valley.
As Danny, 42, continues to face backlash due to his treatment of wife Nia Booko, 36, on the show, Lala, 35, appeared on Tamra Judge, 58, and Teddi Mellencamp‘s podcast, where she admitted he’s “lovely” when sober, reacted to his public apology, and explained what worried her, while also suggesting Nia didn’t have much of a say in their marriage.
“I think that there’s a lot of work to be done,” Lala admitted on the May 25 episode of Two Ts in a Pod, via Vanderpod Recaps on Instagram. “I don’t know that there’s been a behavior shift.”
Although Lala admitted that she hadn’t been around Danny and Nia for very long, she acknowledged that there seemed to be “a shift that happens” when Danny drinks.
“I’ve been around Danny when he’s not drinking, or he knows his limit. And he’s absolutely lovely,” she explained.
Then, when Tamra suspected that things may be worse behind closed doors, Lala confessed to worrying about the same.
“That does worry me … and it just solidifies the whole reason why I went about motherhood the second round the way I did,” she explained, signaling her use of a sperm donor for her one-year-old daughter, Sosa.
“I just find that now that I’ve been out there and I’ve seen, whether it’s me dating or I’ve seen people that, you know, my friends choose, I’m like this, this is the man, you have to really f*cking dig deep to find the good ones. They’re not just like running rampant, like the toxic motherf*ckers are alive and well, and they will get you,” she reasoned.
Moving on to Danny’s apology, Lala said she’s “giving him the benefit of the doubt.”
“I think he watched it and thought, ‘Oh, this is a mirror, and I need to issue a statement,’” she shared.
“It was hard to watch,” she continued. “[And] I didn’t know what it’s like to be in a marriage for that long. But I also, I don’t know how to cook, right? But I know what good food tastes like. I don’t need to be in a healthy marriage to know what one looks like and what an unhealthy one looks like. It’s just kind of like you see it and know.”
Also during the interview, Lala recalled Nia moving to Santa Clarita and noted that she and Danny had four kids under four.
“I don’t know that she has much of a say in anything,” she stated.
Lala then said she appreciated how Nia stands hard for Danny, since he is her husband and the father of her kids.
“It’s just hard for me to understand because of my experiences. They’ve hardened me,” she admitted.
The Valley season three airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on Bravo.
