The leader of the Scottish Conservatives Douglas Ross has been wrapped around the knuckles by the party’s London bosses for suggesting that voters north of the border should tactically vote for Labor in certain seats to keep the SNP out.
He was forced to withdraw his comments after the intervention of the national party.
Ross is here and Sunak’s leader is wrong and shows he doesn’t understand Scottish politics.
Since the SNP’s big surge after the 2014 IndyRef, there has been a strong pattern of Labour, Lib Dem and Tory voters gravitating towards candidates in constituencies most likely to end the SNP.
My guess is that this practice, which arguably has helped the Tories win more Scottish seats overall, will continue what London bosses can say.
The real problem here is the past post-voting system.
