He came clean! Stephen Colletti claimed that MTV wanted him to be a part of The Hills: A New Beginning – and hope to see him spark romance with Audrina Patridge.
“Every year, the producers would pester me, asking if I wanted to do the show, asking if I could find a way to do the show,” Colletti, 36, said during the Tuesday, Jan. 31, episode. “Back to the Beach” podcast with Kristin Cavallari. “When he started doing it The Hills: A New Beginnings, they hit me up. And at the moment, we are working to find it [my show] Everyone Makes It Big house. We were trying to sell. So I was like, ‘I’m going to take a meeting. If there is a world where if I show in a couple of episodes from The Hills and Viacom or one of the show-buying platforms, I’ll be king.’”
When in One Tree Hill alum connection that the deal “couldn’t work out that way,” he admitted that the reality of life again has plans for him comfortably until Patridge 37-year-old.
“[They] we were like, ‘Can’t you see yourself having a little something with, like, Audrina? It sounds like you have good chemistry, and you know him, right? So it’s unrealistic to think you’re going to date.’”
Colletti said he wasn’t sure if the show would be a success because “the only connection I have is. [The Hills] already [Kristin] or Lauren [Conrad]” and that the players are “not people I hang out with.” Founder James Uncommon, 36, disagrees.
“Yes you can [have been on The Hills], Stephen. You will take over this show,” he quipped.
“You tell me whether you want to buy a TV show or not, and I’ll let you know if I’m coming or not. The Hills,” Stephen joked about the MTV offer.
California native ended up making only one official appearance during The Hills’ The initial run in 2007 – Colletti showed up to one of the Lauren Conrad party – but he played at his sister’s show, Laguna Beachfrom 2004 to 2005.
At Hit the Floor the actor became a fan-favorite in the series when viewers wondered whether he would keep his girlfriend Very Cavallari alum or pursuing a relationship with longtime friend Conrad, 37.
While their teenage romance eventually fizzled, Colletti and Cavallari remained close over the years, launching a rewatch podcast “Back to Beach” in July 2022.
The duo began to get honest
“I have a big problem because it looks like, obviously they’re making a show about this love triangle and there’s a time when you and I break up,” he said. Summer Forever star explained. “And he’s learned about me and Lauren connecting and being really good friends and, you know, it always happens at certain times, but there’s no point when we’re together, I’m going to follow you that way. That brings my blood up a little bit seeping in.”
horseman, for her part, she said she felt MTV “put us in a box” for “the whole first season.
“They decided ‘OK, this is how we’re going to make Stephen look and I don’t care what happens in his life,'” she said. “‘We’re going to keep tearing that house down and keep coming back to the same storyline.'”
