The top poll on striking nurses is from the latest Opinium poll that came out yesterday and highlights what seems to be a big problem for the government.
Usually strikes by those who provide public services are not supported by the public and can certainly strengthen the determination of ministers to deal with the situation.
That just isn’t the case with nurses and the numbers above are cause for concern. The fact that less than half of the public, if this poll is accurate, supports nurses shows that the strategy implemented by Sunak’s team will not work and may not be productive.
Ministers need a way out and they need it fast.
Of course all the different parts of the public sector are now visible, so you would expect nurses to get the most support.
