Key Verse: Proverbs 20:6, “Many people
professing to be faithful, but who can find the faithful?” (NET Bible)
Now, even in this day and age, God is looking for his faithful children and servants. One of our spiritual fathers, Rev. PK Emeaba shared his story with us in the teaching program. He said that when he was a student at the Bible School, he was sick and could not go to class. He said that when the school was over and the students were leaving the classroom for their dorms, he got up and left the room after regaining his strength. He said that God spoke to him, saying: “I have seen all this and I am still looking for the faithful among them.” God is looking for men and women who will be faithful to Him.
In the Old Testament, we have people who were faithful to God. Joseph was one of them like Abraham (Genesis 39:7-9). Joseph found favor with God because he was a faithful man (Genesis 39:4). Joseph had a very high position in the house of Potiphar, his master. This is a position that is earned through personal integrity and loyalty, which is demonstrated in Potiphar’s house and must remain faithful. Then comes the temptation through Potiphar’s wife who threatens the position of trust through some temptation of sin. Joseph refused to accept the attraction and remained faithful to God (Genesis 39).
Loyalty to God demands that you stand firm in the face of every temptation to sin. Today there are many temptations of the flesh for us as Christians to withdraw from our faithfulness to God. Joseph was in one of those situations. Joseph resisted and won the battle and God never let him down even though he went through several crucibles.
Daniel is another person who is faithful to his faith and belief as a Jew (Daniel 1:8; 6:10-12). He refused to defile himself according to the Bible with the king’s portion of meat and wine. Daniel knew that it came from worshiping idols and he did not want to defile himself with it. Daniel’s prayer life was threatened, but Daniel refused to bow down.
Some people who were jealous of his progress met King Darius with a request to enforce a law requiring that no one should pray to anyone but the king, but the king did not know that he was directing Daniel.

When Daniel realized this, instead of giving up, he stood up and continued to pray and God never let him down. Daniel is loyal to the Lion Church and remains loyal to God.
In the New Testament, there were people – Paul, Peter, Apollos and many others – who were faithful to God. In 1 Corinthians 4:2, Paul said, “Now the elders must be faithful.” Paul mentioned that he, Peter, Apollos and others were stewards of the mystery of God (1 Corinthians 4:1). Paul knows that preaching the good news has been done with God and he is faithful to do his duty. He is faithful to preach the word of God and spread the good news to all nations and glorify God. Faithfulness demands that all of us who have heard the gospel must be faithful to preach it. Loyalty demands that we who have benefited from the Gospel of Jesus Christ must be faithful to pass it on to others.
