Tweets from the Election Map clearly show the change in the party’s fortunes since early April 2020 when Starmer became Labor leader and, of course, Leader of the Opposition.
This is at a time when COVID is dominating everything and we are in lockdown.
So only part of the Labor overhaul can be handed over to the new leader. Something bigger happened.
I think Starmer has done well and over the last 8 months has been helped by the Tories though some party leaders.
I am still not convinced that he will lead Labor to a majority at the next election, although in recent weeks he has been greatly helped by events in Scotland where up until GE2015 Labor had 41 out of 69 seats.
Sunak, however, can prove to be a formidable opponent without the obvious negatives of Johnson and Truss.
