Our End is HBOthe latest sensation. The post-apocalyptic horror drama was a hit with audiences and critics, most impressive for its video game adaptation.
The show has been doing well but hit a real tipping point with Episode 3 last week, which turned the show from a success to a great cultural moment. The episode called “bottle” takes a break from a cross-country trip in infected America to take a step back and tell a 20-year love story about two people who find each other after the world collapses. The astonishing, beautiful, and fascinating one delights the audience in the most surprising way – and is considered one of the best hours of TV of all time. The man who made it The Haunting Of Hill House even thought!

So… why is it the cheapest episode of the show? Like, not close?
The series has an average rating of 9.2 out of 10 IMDB, the score is really exceptional. Episode 1 has a 9.2. Episode 2? 9.2. But after a week, Episode 3 has, as of this writing, dropped to a 7.9. The episode that everyone is raving about? yes already.

If the quality goes down a bit, it will get less 10 star votes, replaced by more 7, 8, and 9, etc. That didn’t happen. The first episode got 49,000 10 star ratings. Episode 3, title Long, Long Time, earning nearly 91,000 10-stars. Actually there are fewer 8’s and 9’s, which means they can be up to 10’s.
The difference then? Number of star ratings 1. That went from 1,427 in Episode 1 to over 46,000 in Episode 3. Yes. It got review-bomb.
It’s not just IMDB. On Metacritic, the first two eps scored 8.6 and 8.5, respectively. Episode 3? 5.0. And if you scroll through the reviews, once again, it’s mostly 10s… and a ridiculously large number of 1-star reviews.
Why?
Well, if we forget to mention, that is the love story Long, Long Time? It is between two people, played by Parks and Recreation favorite Nick Offerman and White Lotus stand out Murray Bartlett. Correct. A bunch of damn homophobes can’t stand it if there are dudes kissing dudes. Suddenly a show about survival in a fungus-infected zombie hellscape gets everyone “woke” and a lot of kids can’t take it. It made a widdle Ben Shapiro everything is uncomfortable – they should do a whole video about it.
Hold back. It is 2023, and we are truly devolving as a society. These anti-LGBT a-holes have been whipped into such a frenzy that they even have to turn the Zombie show into a stupid culture war.
The point is, despite being a new show, the franchise is no stranger to this phenomenon. Our End Part II was heavily bombed within minutes of its release in 2020 – due to no small part of the word that there were positive depictions of trans characters *gasp-gasp – Metacritic then changed its rules to force gamers to wait 36 hours. after the game was released for longer. Obviously they can’t prove that anyone actually played the game giving it a 1-star spike, but at least it stopped trolls from trolling reviews before they might even have time to play.
Kinda makes you wonder how many of the 1-star reviews there are ELEPHANT Episode 3 even watched, right?
