Terrorists have kidnapped four students from Zamfara State College of Health Technology, Tsafe and his sister who came back from a colleague’s party on Sunday.
The students were returning to Kaura Namoda from Birnin Magaji in northern Zamfara State when terrorists attacked the vehicle they were traveling in and kidnapped at least 18 people – four students, three women and another man – along with three of their siblings. .
PREMIUM TIMES gathered that security and government officials are desperate to cover up the abductions especially since students are among those abducted. However, a family member of one of the victims said that they had negotiated with the terrorists.
The Provost of the College, Yusuf Maradun, also confirmed the kidnapping when contacted by this reporter. However, he said the abduction did not take place at the school and the victim’s family had not informed the school about the abduction.
βHe left his home town during the Christmas and New Year holidays for the wedding ceremony of one student in Birnin Magaji where he was abducted.
“Three are from Laura Namoda, one is from Kura (Bungudu L/G, and others are from other cities. In total, they are seven or eight (including siblings). So far no family member has reported the case to the College. Matur sorry,” he said.
“Yes, I have heard from his friends who went to Birnin Magaji for the wedding of his friend who is also our student. On his way to Kaura Namoda to travel to various cities as the school was on holiday, the terrorists abducted him,β said a lecturer at the College, who asked not to be named for security reasons.
He gave the names of the abducted students as Jamila Yahaya (Nutrition and Dietetics), Umma Sani β Umar (Nutrition and Dietetics), Hafsat Dahiru β Kura (Public Health), and Abdullahi Umar (Epidemiology and Disease Control). The three sisters are: Aisha Yahaya, Nabila Dahiru and Umma Abubakar.


Terrorists demand huge ransom
“We have been called by terrorists and they said that they have also called some other family members of the students. They said that N20 million will be collected from us for our daughter. I have also known, as other family members have said,” said a relative of one of the students.
He said the bride’s father asked family members to stop individual discussions with terrorists.
“He wants us to discuss together so that we don’t give him big money. He (bride’s father) also participated in the discussion because he was kidnapped when he came back from his wedding. He feels bad and we understand the situation. I hope we can quickly discuss whatever is being discussed because it is dangerous it’s too bad to be left with terrorists,” he said.

The police spokesman in Zamfara state, Mohammed Shehu did not respond to calls and text messages sent to him about the abduction.
