Vance calls lack of co-operation in Minneapolis ‘disgraceful’
I’m a CBC News correspondent in Washington, D.C.
Vance is blaming the chaos surrounding immigration enforcement in Minneapolis on elected officials refusing to let their local agencies co-operate with ICE.
“The local authorities have been told, ‘Stand down, do not help ICE, promote violence, promote the agitation, but don’t do anything to lower the temperature and lower the chaos.’ That’s a problem,” Vance said.
“This is disgraceful,” added Vance, flanked by a group of ICE and U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials.
“The best way to facilitate reasonable enforcement of the law, but also to lower the chaos in Minneapolis, would be for state and local officials to co-operate,” he said.
