At All Progressive Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State has alerted the public to a fake letter circulating on social media claiming that the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Umana Okon Umana, has been suspended.
The Chairman of APC in Akwa Ibom, Stephen Ntukekpo, in a disclaimer issued on Wednesday described the letter as an unholy lie perpetrated by people seeking attention.
“I hereby declare with authority that the Honorable Minister has never been suspended and has never been suspended from the party in the ward, Branch or State. The general public and members of our great party should not pay attention to this information because it is a lie and misleading,” said Mr. Ntukekpo in the disclaimer. .
He described Mr. Umana as a true party man and a great supporter of the united party in the state.
“I appeal to our party members to stay focused and concentrate on the campaign,” he said.
APC leaders in Mr. Umana’s ward – Ndiya Ward, Nsit Ubium Local Government Area – have also issued a similar warning.
The fake suspension letter coincides with expel of Ita Enang, a former adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari, of the APC.
The Chairman of APC in Akwa Ibom, Mr. Ntukekpo, said that Mr. Enang, the party’s gubernatorial candidate, was sacked because the court was against the party over his gubernatorial ambitions.

Mr Ntukekpo said without evidence that Mr Enang was secretly working for the Peoples Democratic Party in Akwa Ibom.
Local APC about the end of Enang
The local chapter of APC in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, however, resisted state chairman, said that Mr. Enang remains a member of the party.
A statement issued on Tuesday by the Chairman of the APC in Ibiono Ibom, Umoh Ekop, and the Secretary, Aniekan Ekerette, distanced the APC at the ward and chapter level from the actions of the State Working Committee of the party described as “biased”.
“The decision to seek compensation and justice in a court of law cannot be said to be an anti-party activity and disobedience to the legitimate directives of the party,” the statement said.

“To this end, the party executives, elders, and all members of the APC in Ibiono Ibom hereby give a vote of confidence to our illustrious son, Ita Enang.”
The statement urged the public not to ignore Mr. Enang’s eviction.
“Ita Enang is the only known voice in Akwa Ibom State who always speaks for the party,” the statement said.
