Blanche condemns political violence, says Trump’s opponents and the media are ‘overly critical’
Asked about the spate of political violence in recent years — the past assassination attempts against Trump, the arson at the Pennsylvania governor’s home, the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, among others — Blanche says there is a heightened threat environment right now given what’s gone on.
Blanche says the news media has been “overly critical” of the president and he’s been called “horrible names for no reason and without evidence, without proof” by foes online.
Hakeem Jeffries, the Democratic minority leader, said earlier today that “MAGA extremists” like White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt and others in Trump’s orbit should not lecturing anyone on “political civility.”
Still, Blanche seems to suggest the suspect, Allen, was radicalized before travelling by train from California to D.C. to target Trump and other administration officials.
“We’re talking about somebody who is college educated, who has a job, who is otherwise living his life,” Blanche says.
“He chose to do what he did,” Blanche says. “It’s sad that it has to happen.”
