It has been widely reported that the prime minister sees solving the small boat issue as an important part of his bid to hold on to power in the next general election.
But it is indeed the area of policy that is most likely to attract support from those polls suggest the Tories have lost since the last election.
What’s interesting about the YouGov poll above is how views on small boats policy and the government’s efforts to stop them run largely along party lines.
Efforts to control the migrant crisis and policy initiatives like the threat to send illegal immigrants to Rwanda simply will not go down well with British voters especially those who now say they will vote for Labor or for LD.
Sunak and those who give advice are wrong.
