Suhum MP Dashes Sewing Machines To Dressmakers

Suhum Member of Parliament for the Eastern Region, Kwadjo Asante, alias Oboafo has donated 40 sewing machines to the Suhum Branch of the Dressmakers and Taylors Association of Ghana.

The presentation that took place at the house of MP this weekend is in fulfillment of the promise made during the graduation ceremony of the Association, for the Year Group of 2022.

Speaking in a short ceremony, the MP urged the Association to make good use of the machine for the purpose because it is part of an apprenticeship program aimed at helping youth in the constituency to learn skills and improve their lives.

“I like to see young people around to witness the exhibition of talent and skills of apprentices, they can become national and continental fashion designers and this is why I want to support projects like this, I want to contribute to people who are willing to show their talent,” he added.

Oboafo Kwadjo Asante said these talents should be developed and harnessed to benefit the family, the community and the world at large.

He said the outfit is part of the vision of the Akufo-Addo government to train and empower youths who want to engage in vocational training to boost economic development.

The MP last year launched a project called the “Oboafo Apprenticeship Program” which aims to provide beneficiaries with the necessary start-up funds to enroll in their desired courses of study.

He promised to pay graduation fees for all students as the initiative would help many unemployed youths in his constituency to find a better future.

He also called on parents to help their children get the skills training they need by encouraging them in every possible way.

The Chairperson of the National Tailors & Tailors Association of Ghana – Suhum Branch, Cynthia Aduboafo who received the items for the graduates thanked the MP for the kind gesture.
