“You can tell a lot about a person from a company that has been arrested, or in the case of the former president twice, impeached, and now indicted, the person that was praised so loudly on Fox News,” Wallace said Wednesday.
He showed viewers a clip from Trump’s Fox News interview, which aired Tuesday. “They are all the highest,” Trump said of Chinese President Xi Jinping, North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un and Russian President Vladimir Putin. “Our people are not at the top — never,” he said, referring to President Joe Biden.
Trump also called Xi a “brilliant man” and praised Kim and Putin as “very smart.”
Laughing, Wallace said: “I don’t even know where to start. No one calls you the highest. ever!”
The MSNBC host noted that he usually avoids Trump or Fox News, but said this rhetoric provides important context on recent Republican-led efforts to eliminate abortion rights, pass voter suppression laws and silence dissent in the Tennessee state legislature.
“It is important to understand that they are not a body function. They are not burping out random wisdom. They are following their leaders, who are following the most horrible authoritarians in the world,” said Wallace. “And we show you to show you how dangerous his rhetoric is.”
“He’s an idiot, above all else,” he later added. “And he’s like a bleepin’ idiot.”
