according to KSLTV-5The antenna appeared a year ago and the authorities still do not know who left it on the hill.
The unit includes solar panels, a battery box, and an antenna, said the city’s recreation track manager, Tyler Fonarow.

According to the reply in Locklear tweet, it seems that the antenna belongs to the off-grid crypto miners of the Helium Network. This may be the most plausible explanation for the placement of the antenna.
Fonarow in an interview by KSLTV-5, said:
“These towers have been placed on various peaks and peaks and peaks around the foot.”
It also makes sense as a Helium Network sold devices that use this strange antenna to provide hotspots for users using HNT, the network’s native token.
Add to the cryptocurrency angle that is numbered online article shows how people can create self-sufficient miners for rural use.
Fonarow indicated that due to the number of antennae found, he estimates that there are dozens spread around the Utah foothills.

However, this creates legal problems for those who install antennas in these areas.
According to Fonarow, the antenna found last year and a few months ago was not registered with the local government.
Although Fonarow considered a crypto angle for the antenna he found, Luke Allen, Fonarow’s departmental outreach manager, explained that the crypto idea actually came from social media discourse on the topic.

It’s unclear how much the strange antenna cost, Allen said.
Evidence in Support of the Crypto Hypothesis
Quick search on Active Hotspot Helium Network in the area shows that the Salt Lake City area is a highly concentrated point for Helium miners.
Local authorities can use the map to find unregistered hot spots at the foot of the mountain which could lead to the arrest of the person or person who installed the equipment there.
The decision of an individual or group of people to place antennas in random places has local authorities in Salt Lake City appalled.

No one knows how this strange antenna works and whether local authorities will find more scattered in other areas.
