MANILA, Philippines—After a rocky start to his ONE Championship career, bantamweight prospect Stephen Loman is looking to reach his ultimate goal this year.

Loman stepped up his world title bid last year after scoring two big wins in 2022, beating Shoko Sato and former champion Bibiano Fernandes.

“My goal in 2023 is to stay active and in the best condition. Most importantly, grab the championship belt,” said Sniper.

“[I want] a chance to compete for that belt and bring that belt home,” he said.

The bantamweight belt is now vacant after John Lineker was stripped of the title for failing to make weight last October when he fought top contender Fabricio Andrade-a match that was declared a no-contest after an unintentional blow.

Lineker and Andrade will fight again for the title on February 10 at ONE Fight Night 7.

The 31-year-old Loman, who jumped from No. 5 to No. 3 in the rankings, could take the match winner and challenge for the title.

“I have learned a lot this year. After fighting Sato and Fernandes, I saw that there will be no easy fights here. Both are veterans, and I have to quickly raise my game,” he said.

Loman (16-2), the star of Team Lakay, dominated Sato and Fernandes, defeating both by unanimous decision.
