We’re totally buggin’! Alicia Silverstone return as Don’t know Cher’s character in one of the many star-studded commercials set to air during Super Bowl LVII.
“Looks like a cat out of a designer bag,” the actress, 46, captioned the teaser video via Instagram on Wednesday, February 1.
The clip shows Silverstone in a beautiful yellow plaid skirt and blazer suit walking to the front of the class. She covered her outfit with a C necklace.
“Don’t bug me, your girl is back,” he said before the Rakuten logo was shown as Supergrass’ hit song “Alright” played. The company revived Cher Horowitz from the 1995 film Silverstone Don’t know for big game ads.
The Feb. 12 football championship, which pits the Philadelphia Eagles against the Kansas City Chiefs, will feature several new ads starring celebrities. Serena Williams and Brian Cox teamed up for a Michelob Ultra ad inspired by Caddyshack. He was joined by various sports stars – incl Jimmy Butler, Alex Morgan, Tony Romo, Mrs. Ogwumike and Canelo Alvarez – they’re taking over Bushwood Country Club.
The Super Bowl brings in the largest audience for TV each year, with an estimated 208 million tuning in last year, according to the NFL. With plenty of eyeballs, the ad is priced at a premium, selling for a record $7 million in about 30 seconds by 2023.
However, Cox, who plays Logan Roy on HBO successionexclusively against Us Weekly they don’t even know that game day commercials are considered a massive pop culture institution.
“I don’t even know what the commercial Super Bowl is,” the Scottish actor, 76, told us Saturday, January 30. “My kids explained, ‘Dad, it’s one of the greatest honors you can have to be asked to be in a Super Bowl commercial.’ I said, ‘Really?’ I said, ‘Oh, OK. I don’t know.'”
However, it wasn’t the millions of potential viewers that made Cox nervous about filming the ad.
“Then he said I was going to play golf with Serena Williams, which was the scary aspect of it,” he said. “And I’m not a very athletic type. And she’s probably the best female athlete in the world, you know? And it’s scary. But she’s so sweet and so beautiful and has such a great dignity about her. I respect her because she’s no fuss. She just go ahead and do the job. I mean, a lot of actors could learn from Serena Williams, I tell you.
