Spanish rehab center adds crypto trading addiction to services list

A luxury rehabilitation center in Spain recently added services aimed at treating a relatively new addiction – crypto trading.

The center, called “The Balance,” is a health center founded in Switzerland, with its main facility located on the Spanish island of Mallorca along with representatives in London and Zurich.

While it is known to treat addiction diseases such as alcohol, drugs and behavioral health – now it has started to offer services aimed at fighting crypto trading addiction, according to a report from the BBC.

A February 5 report revealed that one of the center’s clients is trying to “shrink crypto” after reportedly making $200,000 in crypto trades per week.

The treatment consists of a four-week stay – which includes therapy, massage and yoga. The bill could be as high as $75,000.

In another part of the world, Castle Craig Hospital – a Scotland-based addiction rehabilitation clinic that has been treating high-adrenaline crypto traders since 2018 – has seen more than 100 clients come in with “dangerous” cryptocurrency problems.

In Asia, Diamond Rehabilitation – a health center based in Thailand that has been operating since 2019 – has also added specialized services for cryptocurrency addiction rehab and treatment.

The organization says it approaches rehab through the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Psychodynamic Theory (PT) as part of a comprehensive multi-stage approach to help dealers overcome addiction.

It is believed that the euphoric high and crushing bottom of the fast-paced, 24/7 cryptocurrency trading arena has brought in real demand for rehabilitation centers to offer services to trading addicts.

The article by Family Addiction Specialist estimates based on gambling disorder statistics that about 1% of cryptocurrency traders will develop severe pathological addiction, while 10% will experience other problems beyond financial loss.
