Slaven Bilic has been sacked by Watford after less than six months – and Chris Wilder has agreed to take over for the rest of the season.

The final details of Wilder’s contract are currently being discussed and could be signed within the next 24 hours.

Bilic’s last game was a 0-0 draw at home to Preston on Saturday, a result that left them with just one win in eight league games and four points off the Championship play-off places. Watford have won just three games since Christmas, and have taken just 14 points from a possible 36.

Bilic won 10 of his 26 games in charge after being appointed in September, replacing Rob Edwards who was sacked after just 10 league games.
