Sister Deborah says Ghanaians who are anti-LGBTQ should stop wearing designer brands
Ghanaian musician, activist and creative, Deborah Vanessa Owusu-Bonsu speaks out for the LGBTQIA community and their rights.
Singer Uncle Obama, 38, opened up about his support for the queer community when he appeared as a guest on the popular Urban Ghana podcast, Genuine Accra.
In the episode, Sister Derby is vocal about her ally for the community and her empathy for sexual choices.
“I care a lot and I’m passionate enough because I have empathy. Second, in my industry, most of the people who make these things happen are part of the LGBTQ community. I don’t even like that it’s a community. Why is it a community? We’re all human, right? I don’t understand why it should be different,” he said.
According to the singer who is a fashion designer himself, the creative industry both locally and globally has a gay presence. So if you are against them, then you should stop wearing designer brands.
“Top fashion designers, make-up artists, hair stylists. The best fashion designers in the world, for example, are 99% queer. So, if you’re against queer people, don’t wear designer brands,” she told the show’s host.
Some of the world’s most talented designers are included Alexander McQueen, John Galliano, Jean Paul Gaultier, Dolce and Gabanna, Christian Louboutin, Simon Porte Jacquemus and Marc Jacobs has come out as gay and has changed the ways of the rich in the 21st century.
