The Ghana Education Service (GES) has ordered principals of Senior High Schools (SHS) and Primary Schools to reopen on Tuesday, January 10, 2023.
The High School was supposed to reopen on Monday, January 9, 2023, but it had to be extended to Tuesday, due to the Constitution Day holiday.
According to a GES statement signed by the Head of the Public Relations Unit, Cassandra Twum Ampofo, noted, “the management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) wishes to inform students, staff, parents and the general public that due to the Statutory Holiday Monday, January 9, 2023, Secondary Schools Atas is scheduled to reopen on Tuesday, January 10, 2023”.
The statement also indicated that primary school principals should note that the re-opening date for primary and secondary schools remains January 10, 2023.
“Students, staff, and the general public need to be taken seriously.”
The government has declared January 9, 2023 as a public holiday.
A statement issued by the Minister of Home Affairs, Ambrose Dery, said the day was declared a Public Holiday to mark “Constitution Day.”
This day aims to remind Ghanaians of their commitment to uphold the rule of law, constitutionalism, and democracy.
It called on Ghanaians to observe the day as a public holiday across the country.
