Nicky Henderson has reported that Shishkin “blew the ceiling” during work this week and it will take 10 days when the problem is resolved.
While the procedure is not the main one, a new plan for the rest of the season must now be mapped out.
After winning 10 starts over hurdles, Shishkin has been beaten in his last two outings – pulling up in the Champion Chase last season and finishing a distant third behind Edwardstone in his reappearance at Tingle Creek at Sandown.
After the latest eclipse, Henderson expressed his intention to raise Shishkin in the distance and has not entered the 2021 Arkle champion for the Champion Chase at this time.
However, he has entries in the Ryanair Chase and, interestingly, the Cheltenham Gold Cup, while next weekend’s Silviniaco Conti Chase at Kempton has been tipped as a potential pre-Festival target.
Speaking on the Unibet blog on Friday, Henderson said: “After work earlier this week, Nico (de Boinville) reported that Shishkin made a noise. noise and we have investigated and scoped him and basically ‘d flipped the ceiling.
“It’s clear and obvious. It means he feels displacing, which is amazing because we’ve never heard it in the race, but it’s exactly what happened in the race. It’s very easy, but there are 10 days.
“We have to do it, we’re going to go ahead and solve it. It’s a common old problem and it’s very easy to fix, but it has to be done.”
