Shakira looking forward to the coming year after really, indeed difficult 2022.
As fans know, the 45-year-old singer broke up Gerard Pique last year amid allegations of levid cheating on him. Not to mention that all tax problems with the Spanish government. So, we can forgive him for wanting to be so far away from 2022…

On Sunday, the Hips Don’t Lie the singer did just that. In a message sent in English and Spanish to him Instagram account, Shakira shows off her bilingual chops to her 78 million followers. More importantly, he took some less-than-familiar digs at the difficult and very public separation from Piqué that led to the break-up of his family…
In the two-slide IG carousel, Shakira first wrote the message in Spanish before choosing to offer an English translation as well. It reads like this, with the Colombian-born superstar claiming that the “wound is still open” as the calendar changes:
“Although our wounds are still open in this new year, time has the hands of a surgeon. Even if someone betrays us, we must keep trusting others.”
Then, “Shak,” when he signed the post, appeared to immediately address the “disrespectful” treatment.
He didn’t say it in so many words, but it was natural that he was discussing her and the children. Milan9, and Sasha7, went through the hands of Piqué amid the couple’s romantic fight at the end of the summer.
Shakira shared:
“In the face of insults, keep knowing your worth. Because there are more good people than rude people. There are more empathetic people than indifferent ones.”
Wow…
But he wasn’t done there. At Waka Waka singer finished in a flourish. He emphasized that “tears are not in vain” when trying to endure and suffer great suffering:
“Those who leave are fewer than those who stay by our side. Our tears are not in vain, they water the soil to come and make us more human, so that even when our hearts hurt we can still love.”
Ugh. It’s been a tough year for him – and he’s really wearing it on his sleeve with this New Year’s post, isn’t he?

Of course, Shakira and Gerard first confirmed their separation in June last year.
In the statement to Reuters at that time, the singer and football star asked for privacy for Milan and Sasha said:
“We regret to confirm that we are separating. For the welfare of our children, which is our highest priority, we ask that you respect their privacy.
Since then, the road has been very difficult for the now broken family.

The week after the split announcement came out, Shakira spoke to Ella in an in-depth interview. During the conversation, he lamented the “breakup” of his relationship and admitted that it was “hard to talk about.” He also told the mag:
“I’m keeping quiet and just trying to process everything. It’s hard to talk about, especially because I’m still going through it, and because I’m in the public eye and because our breakup wasn’t like a normal breakup.
No kidding.
And with small children involved, it must be even more difficult. (And also with the aforementioned tax issues. Yeesh!!)
