Cory Booker is now a married man.
The senator, 56, and Alexis Lewis, 38, tied the knot in two separate wedding ceremonies. The couple first wed on Nov. 24 at a courthouse in Newark, New Jersey, where Booker served as the first African American U.S. senator for the state.
The duo also celebrated their matrimony with family and friends during a wedding ceremony in Booker’s home city, Washington, D.C., on Saturday, according to multiple outlets.
On Sunday, Booker and Lewis took to Instagram to announce the big news in a joint post.
“Overflowing with gratitude. We said ‘I do’ in two places that shaped us—Cory’s beloved Newark and Alexis’s hometown of Washington, D.C.—first at the courthouse, then with our families,” the pair captioned the post.
Booker and the real estate investment firm director added, “Hearts full and so grateful.”
In the post, the newlyweds shared multiple photos from the ceremony in the nation’s capital. Booker and Lewis were seen holding hands after tying the knot as their guests cheered behind them in one photo. In other images, Lewis showed off her white, strapless wedding gown while the couple posed with their guests in additional snapshots.

In a separate Instagram post Sunday, the couple also shared a photo of them during their Newark courthouse wedding at the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.
The politician, who ran for president in 2020, first announced his engagement to Lewis in an Instagram post in September.
“Alexis is one of the greatest unearned blessings of my life. She has transformed me, helping me to ground and center my inner life, and discover the joys of building a nurturing home with someone you love,” he captioned the post alongside photos of the pair showing off Lewis’ ring following the proposal. “I’m thrilled to share: Alexis and I are engaged!”
Booker added, “We are excited for this journey ahead, having so much fun, and feeling deeply grateful for the love, support, and energy so many of you have shared with us.”
