Body-shaming has no place in our society. In any society.
In the past, we’ve watched and applauded as Selena Gomez effortlessly flaunted her body.
The thing is, this vicious trolling doesn’t deserve a respectful response. No one is “owed” an “explanation” for the appearance of the body.
But Selena can, in fact, explain why she looks so different from one photo to the next. And maybe these trolls will think twice after hearing him.

On Thursday, February 16, the beautiful and talented Selena Gomez took to TikTok live to chat with her fans.
Unfortunately, some very strange trolls have tried to body-sham her. He has attacked the shape of his face.
When Selena’s face shape (like the rest of her body) is nobody’s business, she decided to explain it — and educate.

In 2014, Selena Gomez received a diagnosis of lupus. Autoimmune disorders cause the body to attack itself.
He was able to fight this terrible disease with chemotherapy, which helped save his life. But, like lupus itself, chemo takes a toll on the body.
Likewise, current medications for lupus. While in, Selena tends to “hold a lot of water weight,” she explained.

“And,” Selena continued, “that happened naturally.”
Fun fact: “Naturally” was one of Selena’s earliest hits. It is also arguably the best song in human history. (I, I’m the one who disagrees)
“When I’m not active,” Selena points to her lupus medication, “I tend to lose weight.”

But when answering rude and even hostile “questions” about her body, Selena turned it into something positive. He always does.
Speaking to her fans and followers, Selena emphasized that anyone having a difficult time with their personal situation should know that it’s okay.
Selena reminded everyone that “nobody knows the real story” behind personal struggles and personal pain.

“So I just want people to know that you’re beautiful and wonderful,” Selena emphasized.
“And … yes, we have days where we might feel like st,” he admitted.
“But I prefer to be healthy and take care of myself,” Selena noted, “and my medications are important and I believe they help me.”

Yes, he knew that some people put him in an unreal forest. (Honestly, he’s on the throne)
“So yes, not a model, never. And I’m amazing, mind you. I’m just, I’m definitely – definitely not,” he added.
Selena then told her fans: “I love you, and thank you for your support and understanding.”
But Selena also has some choice words for her detractors — specifically, for body-shaming trolls.
“And if not – leave,” he noted.
Selena concluded by emphasizing: “I don’t believe in shaming people [their] body or something.”
