This decision is based on what the government judges to be a default in the license requirements. According to Punch Newspaper, a news agency in Nigeria“The disclosure was made by the Director General of the Nigerian Mining Cadastre Office (NMCO), Mr. Obadiah Nkom, during a State House briefing organized by the Presidential Communications Team on Thursday in Abuja.”
The Director General said that the license was revoked based on the fact that the company did not use the mining license.
“And, we are very transparent; if you need a Certified Copy of any document, an application owned by anyone or a license or anything, the law allows us to provide it to you. He said.
“Because anything we do can be sued; as I said, in terms of revoked titles, recently, we published a list of people who do not have debts numbering 3,032 and titles revoked 3,402. “And, we also have people with funds ; has been communicated, but when you cancel, you will see a lawyer write to us about complying with the provisions. He added.
The Director General also noted that some applicants for licenses have failed to collect, but the applicants will be gazetted before NMCO decides to penalize them.
“You send a letter to the address of the applicant; and if after 30 days, he does not cure the defect, you remove your news. As much as we appreciate the communication, some people will find windows for an excuse to give in court, but if it is in the gazette, we make sure that we put it on the website so that you do not have an excuse.
The Gazette is final; now we have a weapon for ourselves so that at the end of the day, we know what the missing case is,” Mr. Obadiah Nkom said.
He also noted that NMCO is expected to generate more than N3.7 billion by 2022.
