A mine site security guard was injured after a robbery attack


One person sustained gunshot wounds after being shot by some robbers at a mining site in Awutu Kwei in Awutu Senya West District in the Central Region.

The victim, Kofi Diakah, a private security guard of the company who sustained multiple gunshot wounds is being treated in the intensive care unit at the University of Ghana Medical Centre.

The robbers numbering about four, attacked the stone quarry on Wednesday at 5 pm.

The robbers managed to take money from the site after forcing the cashier to open the company’s safe at gunpoint.

The victim was transferred to UGMC from St. John’s Hospital. Gregory in Gomoa Buduburam due to serious injuries.

This is the third time the company has been attacked in a similar manner with the latest occurring just three weeks ago.

The first robbery attack that happened about two years ago, a man parading himself as a national security officer stormed the site and took the money.

But then they were arrested, but there was no conclusion about what happened.

The operator of the site, who is a foreign national, said he was terrified.

The Safety and Health Officer at the Haoxin Quarry site, Alexander Thompson, called on the police to pursue the perpetrators.

No suspect has been arrested so far, but the police have started an investigation into the matter.
