SEC with seven top-10 teams in preseason coaches’ poll

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (February 2, 2023)—–Seven Southeastern Conference baseball teams are ranked in the top 10 in the Preseason USA TODAY Baseball Coaches Poll released Thursday.

LSU is No. 1, followed by Tennessee at No.

LSU ranked No. 1 in all six major preseason polls. Four other SEC squads — Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi State and South Carolina — are ranked in at least one preseason poll. Auburn and Alabama were the top two teams receiving absentee votes in the preseason coaches poll.

The 2023 college baseball season begins the weekend of Feb. 17. The SEC led all conferences with five teams in the NCAA Super Regionals and four teams in the College World Series last season, when Ole Miss won its third consecutive SEC national title.
