Runner of the Week Boys

Distance Medley Relay, Ole Miss

The Rebel quartet of Baylor Franklin (1200m; 2:51), Cade Flatt (400m; 0:47), Tiarnan Crorken (800m; 1:46) and Anthony Camiereri (mile; 3:54) finished sixth in Notre Dame’s Alex. Wilson Invitational in one of the fastest distance medley relay races in NCAA history in an SEC-leading 9:21.89. That’s the second fastest time in Ole Miss history and currently ranks 8th in the NCAA. The time ranks eighth in collegiate history on the big track; seven of the top eight DMR tracks were open last weekend.

Sunday Men’s Field Athlete

Carey McLeod, Arkansas

McLeod, won the triple jump at the Arkansas Qualifier with one attempt when the jump measured 53-9 (16.38), which moved him to No. 7 on the 2023 collegiate list and fourth in the SEC. Runner-up for McLeod was a mark of 51-10.5 (15.81). McLeod’s effort was the highest mark among college students of the weekend, with the next best effort being 52-1.75 (15.89). McLeod is also currently ranked 4th in the long jump with a mark of 26-6.5 (8.09).

New people on Sunday

Matthew Sophia, LSU

Sophia, placed first in the 60m hurdles at the LSU Twilight with a time of 7.93. Sophia ranked ninth nationally in the SEC with a 7.75 (modified from 7.73) earlier this season at the TTU Red Raider Open.

Female Runner of the Week

Distance Medley Relay, Arkansas

Arkansas set a school record 10:49.14 as runner-up to Oregon’s 10.49.07 at the Arkansas Qualifier. The Ducks set a facility record in the distance medley relay, topping the 10:51.63 set by the Razorbacks in 2022. The Arkansas crew now betters the UA record of 10:51.37 that claimed the NCAA title in 2002. The four Razorbacks include Mary Ellen Eudaly (3:20.56), Amber Anning (52.47), Lainey Quandt (2:05.88) and Lauren Gregory (4:30.23). The all-time collegiate list, led by 10:46.62 set by Washington this season, has been added to No. 3 performance.

Women’s Field Athlete of the Week

Amanda Fassold, Arkansas

Fassold, the current collegiate leader, registered another pole vault win this season, clearing 14-9 (4.50) and attempting 15-1.5 (4.61) at the Arkansas Qualifier. Her 14-9 clearance was the best of the weekend, topping a pair of 14-5.5 (4.41) efforts by a pair of vaulters from Virginia Tech. Fassold leads the collegiate mark this season with a mark of 14-10.75 (4.54).

New women on Sunday

Brianna Lyston, LSU

Lyston, ran the fifth fastest in the nation this week in 7.30 seconds in the 60m at the Arkansas Qualifier. He was only second behind his teammate Favor Ofili.
