GOLFERS of the week
Hugo Townsend, Ole Miss
- Ole Miss men’s golfer Hugo Townsend posted a season-best 4th place with a 213 (-3) at the Seminole Intercollegiate. Townsend leads the field in par-3 scoring (-3) and is third in the field in birdies (13). This is the first top-5 graduate transfer for Ole Miss.
- Townsend was one of five players in the 81-player field to post an overall score under par against the high and windy conditions in Tallahassee. Townsend led for Ole Miss in all three rounds at Seminole Legacy Golf Course to contribute to Ole Miss’ 3rd place finish.
- During the first round of competition, the Boden, Sweden native shot a 68 (-4). Townsend was bogey-free for 17 holes as he knocked in seven birdies to start the competition on a high note and kept his stride to finish tied for 4th.
Nathan Franks, South Carolina
- Recorded a best finish of fifth at the General Hackler Championship (March 13-14).
- Shot 207 (-9) to finish T-4th; posted scores of 68-69-70 on the par-72 layout.
- Leads team with 12 birdies through 54 holes.
- Finished T-2nd in the 84-man field in pars (39) and also T-3rd in the field in par-3 scoring average (-1, 2.92).
- Has recorded six-straight red numbers in tournament play for the Gamecocks.
FRESHMAN WEEK
Reed Lotter, Auburn
- Shot 68-72-72 to finish 14th at 212 (-4) overall.
- Carded four consecutive top-15 finishes, only four tournaments in his career.
- Now has recorded nine consecutive rounds at par or better, including five in the 60s.
- His opening round of 68 pushed him up to T4 in school history for a new round in the 60s.
WOMAN
GOLFERS of the week
Angela Arora, Tennessee
- Captured the individual title at the Clover Cup, taking -11 overall.
- Recorded three rounds in the 60s (69-68-68) for the third-highest 54-hole score in program history (205).
- Paced the field and held the top position through all three rounds.
- It was the first individual victory for the Lady Vols since 2020-21, and the first under head coach Diana Cantu.
Chiara Tamburlini, Ole Miss
- Finished in a tie for third at the Valspar Augusta Invitational, marking his second Top 5 finish of the season.
- Finished a season-best 5-under 139, also tied for third at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational.
- It also marked his seventh Top 5 finish in his career, ranking sixth all-time in program history.
- Ranked third among all participating golfers in total birdies for the week, sinking nine over two rounds.
- With rounds of 69 (-3) and 70 (-2) over the weekend, he is now eight rounds of better par golf and four rounds in the 60s in the 2022-23 season.
- Golfed 33 of 36 holes of par or better over the weekend.
