Fox News host Sean Hannity grilled Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) over her lack of support for Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and her bid to become House speaker during an uncontrolled interview on Friday.
The two then after the second day in the House did not decide on a speaker.
Boebert was one of 20 Republicans who did not support McCarthy — whose bid was backed by former President Donald Trump — on Wednesday.
Hannity opened the interview by citing Boebert’s call for Trump to tell McCarthy to withdraw his candidacy.
He then criticized him for “mathematics” because the majority of Republicans had supported McCarthy’s bid for speaker.
“So, if I’m going to use your words, and your methodology and math, isn’t it time for you to pack and pack on your side because they have over 200 and you have 20?” Hannity asked.
“Sean, I understand the frustration, I promise, but …,” Boebert said, before Hannity cut him off.
“I’m not frustrated. You didn’t answer any questions,” Hannity replied before the two exchanged a tense exchange.
Boebert then suggested he might nominate Trump for speaker. The position is always held by a member of the House of Representatives, but being a member of the body is not a requirement to receive a nomination, PBS reported.
“Is this a game show?” Hannity asked after he was interrupted by Boebert.
“No, no, no …,” replied Boebert.
“We’ll pick Jim Jordan one day, [Byron] Donalds another day, Trump the next?” Hannity added.
Hannity tried to control the interview on several occasions before he attacked Republicans who did not support McCarthy’s bid.
“We are here to legislate, we are here to get the country back on track and …,” Boebert said.
“I can tell,” Hannity replied.
