At Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Ahmed Wadada of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) the winner of the Nasarawa West Senatorial District election.
Nasirudeen Baba, INEC Returning Officer for the Nasarawa West Senatorial District election, made the declaration after the collation of results on Saturday at the Zonal collation center in Keffi local government area of the state.
According to the associate professor, Mr. Wadada scored 96488 votes against the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate, who got 47,717 votes.
The name of the APC candidate is not on the list because of the legal case at the Supreme Court which has now been settled for Shehu Tukur.
Mr. Baba added that Musa Galadima of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) got 46,820 votes while Bala Tongurma of the Labor Party got 33,228 votes.
He said the total votes cast for the election were 234,040, while the total valid votes were 228,917 with 5123 votes rejected.
“I am Associate Professor Nasirudeen Baba hereby declare that I am the returning officer for the 2023 Nasarawa West Senatorial District election held on February 25, 2023.

“That Wadada Ahmed of the SDP has met the requirements of the law and is hereby declared the winner and re-elected,” he said.

Yakubu Mohammed-Salisu, the SDP agent for the election, attributed Mr. Wadada’s victory to his mentoring of the youth and the poor.
“This election is the people’s choice,” he said.
Nasarawa West Senatorial District comes from the APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu.
Mr. Adamu represented the zone in the Senate ahead of his election as the national chairman of the APC in 2022.
