Rep. Bill Foster (D-Ill.), a former physicist, relieved that the rest of the “scientific” mind – that is, serial lying Rep. George Santos (RN.Y.) – has joined the House Committee on Science, Space, US House, and Technology.
“As the only recipient of the Wilson Prize for High Energy Particle Accelerator Physics serving in Congress, it can be quiet. Not anymore!” Foster tweeted therebefore grilling new committee members.
“I am thrilled to be joined on the Science Committee by my fellow Republican Dr. George Santos, who won not only the Nobel Prize, but also the Fields Medal – the highest prize in Mathematics – for his innovative work with imaginary numbers,” Foster wrote.
Since being elected to Congress earlier this year, Santos has admitted to fabricating and falsifying many aspects of his background, including work experience and educational history. Still, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) gave him a seat on the science committee, even though Santos has no experience — real or imagined — in science, space or technology.
Scott Kelly, a former NASA astronaut, also congratulated Santos on the appointment.
“Great to have former NASA astronaut and moon walker, Representative George Santos @Santos4Congress on the House Science Space and Technology Committee,” tweeted Kelly, whose brother Mark is a Democratic senator for Arizona. “To infinity and beyond!”
Many members of Congress, including many Republicans, have called on Santos to step down amid the growing scandal. The embattled MP has rejected the call, saying he would only resign if “142 people” asked for it.
