Sam Bankman-Fried, the former CEO of the crypto exchange FTX, may not be able to play League of Legends and other video games if the newly proposed changes to the bail conditions of the United States prosecutor are approved.
In a Feb. 15 letter to United States District Judge Lewis Kaplan, U.S. Attorney Damian Williams asked the court to further expand restrictions on Bankman-Fried’s use of electronic devices.
They pointed to the use of new tools Bankman-Fried as a cause for concern, and agreed with the court’s intuition that “short” is only focused on limiting the use of the application, adding:
“Now there is a record in the Court of the accused who seems to be motivated to expel the monitoring and find loopholes in the conditions of the existing bail. Therefore, the appropriate course is more restrictions on the use of mobile phones, tablets, computers, and the defendant’s internet, with limited exceptions.
Prosecutors proposed that Bankman-Fried be prohibited from using her cell phone, tablet, computer, or internet, except for very limited uses such as reviewing pre-trial evidence, communicating with attorneys and accessing email.

He will be limited to using a single computer and mobile phone, which in addition to his Gmail account will be monitored using a “pen register” – a device or process that creates a list of phone numbers of internet addresses contacted from certain sources. .
Bankman-Fried is understood to be an avid gamer, having reportedly played online video games such as League of Legends during fundraising rounds while at FTX.
Bankman-Fried also mentioned in an interview with the New York Times on November 13 that he likes to play games, because it helps him “unwind a bit” and clear his mind.
Under the newly proposed bail conditions, it appears Bankman-Fried will not be allowed to participate in these activities.

Earlier this month, the former CEO was banned from using an encrypted messaging app after he was found to have contacted potential witnesses in a criminal case.
He was also temporarily banned from using a VPN on February 14, after the Department of Justice found that he had used a VPN on two separate occasions – to watch sports coverage. This ban will be discussed further during the February 16 hearing.
Many in the crypto community were disgusted by the initial conditions of Bankman-Fried’s bail, which required him to wear an ankle bracelet but gave him full computer and internet access from his parents’ luxury home in sunny California.
SBF will spend Christmas at home with his parents playing video games instead of being locked in a cell. What kind of justice is that?
