Sabi’u Yusuf demands N5 billion from Convener of North-South Progressive Alliance Alwan Hassan

A politician, Sabi’u Yusuf (Tunde) has written a warning letter to the Convener of North-South Progressive Alliance, Alwan Hassan demanding the sum of Five Billion Naira (N5,000,000,000:00) as compensation for the injury caused to him (Yusuf) through the slanderous talk that Hassan made against him. The allegedly slanderous statement was made by Mr. Hassan during the Channels Television broadcast program on Monday, February 6, 2023, titled Sunrise Daily. The comment was also published by Channels Television.

In a letter written on his behalf by his counsel, Bode Olanipekun (SAN) of Wole Olanipekun & Co Legal Chamber, Mr. Yusuf denied the allegations and references against him contained in the offensive publication by Mr. Hassan as “made up, made up, fabricated, fictitious and willfully wrong.” As a result of the allegedly defamatory comments, Mr. Yusuf demanded “the unequivocal withdrawal of all allegations published by the Channels about him during the television broadcast referred to.”

He also demanded a public apology to him by Mr. Hassan to be issued through the same channel through which the ‘defamatory’ comments were initially published.

Mr. Yusuf’s lawyer warned that if Mr. Hassan fails to comply with the request within 21 days after receiving this letter, his client (Yusuf) will have the right to use all the means legally allowed under the various applicable laws that the accused (Hassan) is subject to, “to The municipality and the global seek appropriate redress in relation to the unwarranted attack on people and the derogatory false ascription to his character” by Mr. Hassan.

The counsel stated that this letter was also a warning and a request to Mr. Hassan not to make any more defamatory comments about him (Yusuf). Read the full text of the warning and objection letter below:
