Ryan Seacrest it claims Andy Cohen ignored his attempts to attract attention when the two hosted the 2022 New Year’s Eve broadcast of the rival.
Andy and Ryan have been taking not-so-subtle jabs at each other in the press for some time now. Andy drunk calls Ryan and his Dick Clark’s New Rockin’ Eve crew “a bunch of losers” last year, leading CNN to impose a moratorium on on-air alcohol consumption through 2022 CNN Live New Years broadcast.
When holding a morning talk show with Kelly Ripa, Live with Ryan and Kellyat American Idol the host revealed how he tried to say hello between NYE special segments. Ryan made sure to record that he was hard to miss on the “big stage”.
“It was funny because my big stage was in front of Anderson [Cooper] and Andy,” Ryan told Kelly. “When I’m not working, I’m trying to get his attention.”
He further explained that he believed he was in on some of the shots, and that he was trying to move Andy and his co-hosts. Anderson Cooperbut he claimed only Anderson recognized him.
“I thought maybe I was in the shot. I just wanted to wave and say hello,” he said, adding that CNN had “a good show.”
Ryan continued, “And Anderson, the best. He turned around and said, ‘Have a good show.’ It was great. Andy didn’t look back.”
However, Kelly, who shares a close friendship with Andy, denied that Watch What Happens Live The host purposefully ignored and tried to engage Ryan more.
“That is not true. He said he wanted to get your attention,” Kelly argued.
Where Ryan and Andy’s friendship is at this point is still a bit murky. After last year’s fiasco, Andy apologized to Ryan for what he said on air, calling it “just regret” and calling Ryan a “good guy”.
In contrast, in the days leading up to New Year 2022, the two sides traded thinly veiled barbs during promotional interviews. In particular, Ryan defended Andy and praised CNN’s 2022 NYE alcohol ban in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
“There are some respectable people or at least one, right?” Ryan quipped, apparently referring to Andy and Anderson. “I think there’s a serious journalist and then my friend who’s really into it, but maybe it’s a good idea.”
