MANILA, Philippines – Rubilen Amit and Chezka Centeno made it an all-Filipino match in the third round of the 2023 Kamui Women’s World 9-Ball Championship after surviving the match in the preliminary round on Friday (Manila time) in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Amit came back from a 0-5 deficit to defeat Chinese Taipei’s Amber Chen in a hill-to-hill second round duel, 7-6, after luckily sinking the nine ball into the right pocket.
World No. 5 Amit said he was lucky on the last rack and apologized to Chen for what happened when he aimed for the left corner pocket in the shot.

The 41-year-old Filipina had a dominant start to her campaign with a 7-3 defeat of Hong Kong’s Wan Ka Kai in the first round.
Meanwhile, Centeno beat home seed Dawn Hopkins of the United States, 7-4, in the second round.
The reigning Asian 9-ball champion, who is ranked 8th in the world, avoided Margaret Fefilova of Belarus in her first round match, 7-6.
Amit and Centeno met on Saturday (Manila time).
The final 16 players will advance to a race-for-9 knockout round with the winner taking home $30,000.
