Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan, have been asked to vacate their home in England, suggesting that their relationship with the royal family may be strained amid preparations for the coronation of their father, King Charles III.
Frogmore Cottage, in the grounds of Windsor Castle in west London, was intended to be the couple’s main residence before they left royal duties and moved to Southern California. The Sun newspaper reported that Charles began eviction proceedings on January 11, a day after publishing Harry’s explosive memoir “Spare”.
“We can confirm that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been asked to vacate their home at Frogmore Cottage,” a spokesman for the couple said.
The revelation Harry made in “Spare” created a rift between him and his family. The book includes accounts of personal conversations with her father, and her brother, Prince William.
After leaving the UK, Harry and Meghan said Frogmore Cottage would remain their base when visiting the UK
In September 2020, a spokesman announced that the couple had paid 2.4 million pounds ($3.2 million) in British taxpayers’ money to renovate their home while they were members of the royal family.
The money “fully covered” the cost of the renovation, a spokeswoman said.
