MANILA, Philippines–Robert Bolick is open to finding common ground with NorthPort management as contract extension negotiations will continue after Batang Pier’s early exit in the PBA Governors’ Cup.
“There are a lot of things that can still happen,” Bolick said in Filipino after the 134-110 loss to TNT Tropang Giga at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City. “I don’t know if we will be able to fix it, but my priority will always be the PBA.
“I’m not sure when we’re going to talk, but we’re going to try to work things out and let us calm down,” Bolick added.
Bolick’s contract expires on April 30, but speculation about the high-scoring guard heading overseas, particularly to Taiwan, has continued to grow during the end-of-season conference call.
The current deal was extended in early February after both sides worked on a temporary settlement before they could return to the negotiating table.
While Bolick is open to staying with NorthPort, he also added that there are many factors at play.

One of them is the PBA’s long break due to Gilas Pilipinas’ preparations for the Fiba World Cup which it will host in August.
The PBA said it will hold a preseason tournament between May and July to make up for the long break.
“I want to fix it, so does my agent (Marvin Espiritu),” he said. “But like I said, there are still some things that can happen with Gilas and when the next PBA season starts.
“There is a lot of time, but we will try to solve this, of course. I am willing to talk so that everything can be solved,” added Bolick.
NorthPort’s season is coming to a close after TNT’s loss resulted in a 3-8 record, just one win forcing a playoff with Phoenix for the 8th spot.
Batang Pier tried to make a late push, but an 0-6 start that saw Bolick miss the majority of the game contributed to the elimination.
“We weren’t given a chance, but that’s the way it is,” he said before hinting at what he was going to do.
“We will focus on next season.”
