The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State has accused Rotimi Amaechi of being a member of a “vicious cabal” that has caused pain and suffering to Nigerians, including Rivers residents.
Mr. Amaechi, a former minister of Transportation, is the leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Rivers State.
The PDP challenged Mr. Amaechi to deny that he had any hand in the naira crisis and fuel scarcity in the country.
The Director of Publicity and Communications of the Rivers PDP Campaign Council, Ogbonna Nwuke, made the allegation against Mr. Amaechi in a statement on Friday.
He said Mr. Amaechi had recently reconciled with members of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council in Rivers State and was secretly working with the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and “others in the cabal to starve Nigerians of much-needed funds in the name of politics.” .
“Nigerians are forced to earn money to meet their daily needs and provide for their families.
“Unbeknownst to most Nigerians, the vicious cabal that has made it their mission to inflict pain and suffering on all of us has deliberately done so to influence the outcome of the forthcoming election.
“As a political party, we have gathered credible intelligence that supports the view that the leader of APC, Rt Hon. Rotimi Amaechi is a member of the cabal that has caused the naira crisis as well as the fuel shortage and is causing untold hardship to ordinary Kali people and people The rest of Nigeria,” Mr Nwuke said in the statement.

“We challenge the former Minister of Transport to deny this fact. Let him deny that he is not one of those who worked with Alhaji Atiku Abubakar this time to destroy the genuine aspirations of Southern Nigerians.
Wike did not join APC
PDP has refuted claims made by APC governorship candidate Tonye Cole that Governor Nyesom Wike is trying to join APC through the back door.
The statement said comments attributed to Mr Cole showed he was politically ignorant.
Mr. Nwuke said Governor Wike would have left PDP long ago if he wanted to.

“The governor has maintained a principled position that he will not abandon the party he helped build,” he said.

“Governor Nyesom Wike’s attitude since the crisis erupted in the party at the national level is well known. He has generally maintained a principled position that he will not leave the party he helped. That position has not changed.
“Wike stressed that he and the G5 members will remain in the PDP to ensure that the principles that made the party the goal of choice are not undermined by selfish rulers and politicians who do not believe in the unity and stability of Nigeria.

“Pastor Tonye Cole has no reason to spit. Governor Nyesom Wike is not going anywhere. He has no plans today, tomorrow or in the near future to join the APC through the front or back door.
“In an attempt to curry cheap popularity and grab a few mentions in the press, Cole exposed his underbelly and made a big mockery of himself.
Continuing, Mr. Nwuke said: “The Rivers PDP applied for governorship candidates through the Senate and the House of Representatives to the House of Assembly. This means that we are deeply entrenched in our political party, despite differences at the national level.
“Our decision not to support our party’s candidate in the presidential election is something Nigerians know. If Tonye Cole refuses to support his own party’s candidate, he should speak up.
“Instead of peering into the political crystal ball that sends confusing signals about people that cannot be decoded, Cole should retire at home and face the reality of impending defeat in the upcoming polls.
“From all indications, the candidate from Rivers PDP is poised to win on February 25 and again on March 11, 2023. And the people of Rivers who support our great party and its leaders are working tirelessly to ensure that victory is won,” he said.
