Riveiro’s Pirates managed to get their first win of the year this weekend, with the team against the Golden Arrows to score the last two goals in the DStv Premiership tie and win the match 3-1 at the Orlando Stadium, with an attack from Monnapule. Saleng, Terrence Dzvukamanja and Vincent Pule.
The Buccaneers had registered a poor result before the Arrows match and Riveiro said that he and his team always talk about the club’s progress, to make sure they are always at their best.
“There are a lot of eyes following us and watching us. We are a team that cannot rest. We talk about performance and improvement. And because there are good competitors, one of the things we do during the week in every training is to make sure that we can compete with the best ability,” said the Bucs mentor.
“Everybody behind me at this club is generally competitive. They’re the ones who don’t sleep when we’re not winning.
No dinner
Riveiro added that it is difficult for him to eat if the results are not in favor of the team.
“If I don’t win, I won’t have dinner, sleep or breakfast. Too many times. It’s the same for the players even if you think they don’t care. They suffer. Today (last Saturday), that means we have to finish with three points. And they do what they have to do to the end and become more courageous.
Victory over the Arrows saw the Bucs move up to fifth in the league standings from eighth. The Soweto giants have now collected 22 points in their last 16 league matches.
