‘Ridiculous!’: Nancy Pelosi Hits Back At CNN’s Jake Tapper Over ‘Insider Trading’ Ask

“That’s ridiculous!” said the former House speaker, who has stressed that she does not trade stocks herself despite facing criticism over the years due to her husband Paul Pelosi’s success doing so.

Nancy Pelosi has been the subject of unfounded claims over the years that her husband’s investments are fueled by insider information she acquired in Congress. The investments have resulted in a “Pelosi Tracker” as well as efforts to restrict members of Congress from trading stocks.

Such efforts have recently been backed by Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), who introduced a bill which advanced in a Senate committee Wednesday that would bar lawmakers and their spouses — as well as future presidents and vice presidents — from trading stocks.

“You know, Nancy Pelosi became rich by having inside information,” said Trump, who went on to call for an investigation into her and claimed that she “has the highest return of anybody practically in the history of Wall Street.”

Pelosi interjected as Tapper began to read Trump’s claim on the air.

“Why do you have to read that?” said Pelosi, who added that she agreed to go on his program to discuss the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Medicaid.

Moments later, she emphasized that she supports an end to individual stock trading by members of Congress (she wasn’t on board with such a move back in 2021) as it helps instill Americans’ “confidence” in elected officials.

She went on to note that her husband’s investments don’t have “anything to do with anything insider.”

“But the president has his own exposure so he’s always projecting,” said Pelosi of Trump, who made light of the 2022 hammer attack against her husband while on the campaign trail last year.
