Candiace Dillard-Bassett reveal about the seventh season of Real Housewives of Potomac.
After her husband, Chris Bassettwas faced with rumors of inappropriate behavior from some of her cast mates, ie Gizelle Bryant and Ashley DarbyCandiace insists that she “didn’t cheat” in her marriage because she also reacted Robyn Dixon‘s cheating drama with John Dixonhe made unexpected friends with Mia Thorntonformer BFFs Jacqueline Blakeand others.
“There’s been a lot of talk about this season being the best, and that’s always nice to hear,” Candiace said in a Feb. 3 interview with Variety.
According to Candiace, the conflict he faced in season seven, specifically the accusations against Chris, was particularly challenging because the accusations were “untrue”.
“I know he booked Ashley, because at the time of the DM debacle, I was in Vegas for the Grammys. I called him when I got settled because of the time difference and he said, ‘I’m at work. I saw Ashley and Robyn at the Park. I to them, they must come to W and they must come next time.’ And I said, ‘Yes, you have to come and give me a table,’ ” Candiace recalled.
In addition to being accused of sending Ashley DM late-night and flirting with her friend, Deborah, Chris faced claims of making Gizelle uncomfortable in the sixth season of Reunion, which Candiace spoke to “at length” about.
“There are no secrets with my wife and I. We talk about everything and there are no ulterior motives,” he said. “The drama is because I immediately realized that there is a false root. The root is the need to talk about it, because you have nothing to talk about yourself.
When some have felt Candiace has RHOP the producer in his corner when Chris faced the allegations, he did not believe there was any truth to the suggestion, saying they were only “on the side of truth” and “being fair.”
As for his mother, Dorothy Dillardwho has been vocal about Chris, and his problems with him, in the past, Candiace said he did not like the cast’s lies about his wife.
“This is my daughter and my son-in-law, facing incredible lies and bullying and assault and stupidity at the hands of a bored and bored man,” Candiace said. “He was very adamant about expressing his displeasure.”
Moving on to Robyn’s new wedding, Candiace said she was “happy” for her castmate before learning she confirmed Juan’s “affair” with another woman.
“I’m really disappointed and hurt,” Candiace said. “We are on a show about sharing our lives. Robyn is someone I think is honest and open about her life, as she wants and demands that each of us be honest about life. It hurts that she chooses not to, and watching my husband be dragged to lie when he has a real story.
In addition to having problems with Robyn, Candiace is also estranged from Ashley, explaining that her co-star lacks “mature” and “respect”.
“They don’t know if it’s enough,” Candiace said.
When some of Candiace’s relationships fall apart RHOP season seven, he was able to establish a friendship with Jacqueline, whom he “wasn’t a fan of” at first because of his blind loyalty to Mia, who eventually turned him around.
“This is clearly a man who was not given a secret that Mia would betray him in front of millions of people,” Candiace said. “It was difficult to watch. It made me want to comfort Jacqueline, and then in her comfort, I got to know her. And she is a very good person. She is a smart woman. She is a good woman who loves her friends … We are still friends to this day.
Despite the cast’s attack on Chris during the season, Candiace said she felt good after the reunion tape.
“I honestly feel the most relaxed I’ve ever felt after the reunion,” she said. “I really left it all on the couch, and I felt it for my wife, too. I think that’s part of what calmed me down knowing that she had to say what she had to say.
When Candiace was then asked about her new deluxe edition Deep Space album, which features clips from Nicki Minaj pressing him to sing acapella in season six Reunion, Candiace said the inclusion was made in an effort to show that he is not immune to criticism, not to throw shade on the rapper.
However, while she’s being nice, Candiace says she’s faced backlash from some of Nicki’s fans, Barbz.
“Some of the Barbz are barbaric. And I know they’re going to come at me for saying that… But I know,” he explained.
For her next album, Candiace says she’ll be “more vulnerable”
“I want to talk about parts of my life and parts of my story that I’ve never told before and things that no one knows about,” she shared. “We haven’t started recording anything yet. But the conversation is happening.
Candiace then says that she loves him Erika Jaynemusic because it is “sexy,” “catchy,” and “honest,” and added that he would collaborate with The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star. Candiace even defended Erika against claims she knew about her estranged husband Thomas Girardi‘s crime of fraud against a former client.
“What I see is that he doesn’t understand, and I don’t believe he knows what he’s doing. [And] I’m not mad at him. He had a life outside of his career… I don’t think it’s fair that he’s being punished for what he did,” he said.
