REVEALED! Dampare Led Intelligence Team In Arresting Killers Of Slain Soldier | General News

It has emerged that the Inspector General of Police (IGP) George Akuffo Dampare was involved in intelligence work that led to the arrest of the killer of the dead Imoro Sheriff soldier.

According to sources familiar with the development, the IGP joined the operation in the Ashaiman grounds to follow leads and tips which eventually led to the arrest of the suspects on Friday.

The police in a social media post on Friday afternoon said: “The police after a week of continuous intelligence-led operations arrested the main suspects involved in the murder of Imoro Sherrif, a soldier who was found dead in Taifa Ashiaman on March 4, 2023.”.

On Saturday, March 4, 2023, Imoro Sherrif, who according to the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) was visiting Accra from Sunyani, was killed in Ashaiman town.

Dozens of military officers stormed Ashaiman in an operation that saw some soldiers enter the town in trucks, with armored cars plus helicopters hovering over the town.

The exercise is said to be in response to the gruesome killing of a young soldier, Trooper Sherrif Imoro, by some unknown persons on Saturday, March 4, 2023.

A video of the invasion shared on social media showed various forms of assault by the invading officers which resulted in some residents being beaten.

In a statement released early on March 8, the Ghana Armed Forces admitted authorizing the raid that resulted in the arrest of 184 people, as well as the seizure of illegal drugs.

In his statement, he also admitted that excesses may have led to the swoop but failed to apologize or commit to conducting an investigation into the same.

The initial 150 suspects were released on March 8, while Fix The Country movement organizer Oliver Barker-Vormawor reported on March 9 that the remaining 34 were also released without charge.

Police Interrogate Girlfriend of Killed Soldier

The Ashaiman Police have questioned the devastated girlfriend of a slain military man who died in Ashaiman in the Greater Accra Region.

Imoro Sherrif was laid to rest on Thursday, March 9 at the Military Cemetery, Burma Camp in Accra.

Imoro Sherrif was horribly murdered on Saturday, March 4.

He was found in a pool of blood in Ashaiman and is suspected to have been stabbed to death.

The Military High Command on Tuesday sanctioned an intelligence-led operation to fish out the perpetrators of the crime.

During the operation, some civilians reported the brutality that was meted out as 184 people were rounded up with 150 released and 34 people have been handed over to the Ghana Police Service through the Military Police for further action.
