Speaking at the session, Compensation Fund assistant director Paul Nyathela explained that employers must immediately report injuries that occur while the employee is performing their duties regardless of their nature or urgency. Employees can also report incidents of injury that occur while on duty

They also appreciate that if an employee is late in reporting the incident, that employee can also take the initiative to report it.
“All occupational injuries and diseases must be reported to the Compensation Fund by the employer to avoid adverse situations or complications that may occur due to failure to report cases. Injuries may not appear serious at the time of occurrence but may reappear at a later stage and at the request of the Doctor who nambani can be reopened. Therefore, we ask you to always urge your colleagues and employers to report all cases whether big or small,” said Nyathela.
The Compensation Fund provides compensation to employees who are injured or become ill while on duty. The fund is regulated by the Compensation for Occupation Injuries and Diseases Act (COIDA) of 1993 (amended in 1997) which determines how, and by whom the fund is provided and the conditions for obtaining compensation.
