Remember how Truss’s Tories were doing before the Kwartang Budget? – politicalbetting.com

Opinion 23 September 2022

What’s surprising is that this poll came out less than three months ago and a huge turnout has taken place in the intervening period. The same poll has Truss and Starmer level on the “Best PM” question.

One of the 2022 bets that can’t be made is for the Tories to take a polling lead in September. My reasoning is that the new leader will get a honeymoon and it will be reflected in the voting intention polls.

The forest that didn’t happen and we all know it started to collapse for the Tories after the first and only budget statement of the new Truss government.

Can Sunak bring the party back to September 2022 levels and we can start thinking seriously about when the Tories are back? Of course this won’t happen in 2022. New Year may be different even if Sunak doesn’t seem to have a honeymoon.
