The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has praised the deep religious tolerance in the country, describing it as an enviable gift from God.
He said Ghanaians are noted all over the world for leaving peacefully regardless of their religion or ethnic beliefs and this has made the country a peaceful country that many people love.

Speaking at a durbar in Kumasi to commission the newly renovated Ashanti Central Mosque (Kumasi Central Mosque) in Asawase, Dr Bawumia praised the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and the Asanteman ancestors for accepting and giving space and space to various tribes and religions. life and worship.
The renovation work was solely funded by Dr Bawumia to fulfill the promise he made to Allah and the Muslim community in the Ashanti region by 2020.

The renovated, air-conditioned mosque now has a capacity of 7,000 seats with more than 30 underground bathrooms and 100 ablution rooms.

There are also 11 fully equipped offices, the office of the Imam and the head of the office that can accommodate 40 people, a conference room with a capacity of 500, a two-room apartment, CCTV cameras and male and female mortuary facilities.
The Vice President commended the contractors who worked on the project and said Ghanaians can give their best, give them a chance.

He said the Kumasi Central Mosque is one of the oldest Islamic icons in the Ashanti region and called on the Muslim community to maintain the facility properly.
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, said that the Mosque is one of the heritage of the Ashanti community and urged worshipers to always maintain the cleanliness of the facility.

He said that he is part of the Muslim community and therefore, anything that disturbs Muslims disturbs him, and he will not accept anything that can hinder the relationship between the Manhyia palace and the Muslim community.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu took the opportunity to announce to the Muslim community, the amount of GHS 280,000.00 that was due as rent for the land on which the Mosque was built, has been removed.
