The management of RegentAfrica Times newspaper has announced its 2nd annual public lecture and awards, organized in collaboration with the Nigerian Union of Journalists, FCT-Chapter, with the support of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).
Theme: “2023: Enhancing Professionalism Among Security Agencies, Media and Voters for Free, Fair & Credible Polls”, the event is scheduled for February 14, as Nigeria leads the presidential polls in the next few days.
In a press statement signed electronically by the Editor-in-Chief, RegentAfrica Times newspaper, Shola Akingboye, on Monday, the media organization noted that the 2023 college is focused on addressing the key players in the upcoming elections – the security agencies, the media, and the electorates – whose roles and action expected to shape the Nigerian general election is much anticipated.
“The event focused on tasking everyone on how to synergize for a peaceful election.
“We are joining the advocacy for free, fair and credible polls with the support of our key partners: Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ-FCT), National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), and African Independent Television, AIT.
“As a media organization, we need to hold events like this because of the oath we pledged to remain members of the four regions, with the constitutional responsibility to inform and make the public more aware of the issues that are happening, especially. as Nigeria’s transition election 2023 approaches.
“However, the 2nd and 2023 editions are strategic because of the upcoming general elections and the need to involve critical stakeholders, so the theme of the event and February 14th are set aside for this year’s lecture, when the Presidential election is eleven days away. .

“The 2023 edition is designed to remind the key players in the upcoming elections, the security agencies, the media, the voters, including the election observers on the need to adhere to the rules and operational ethics in the performance of their duties while in the field for peace and credibility. “The event was organized in partnership with the Nigerian Union of Journalists, (NUJ-FCT Council), with the support of our major media partners, African Independent Television (AIT) and the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) who hosted the event at its headquarters commission in Maitama, Abuja given the NHRC advocacy for citizen participation in the upcoming 2023 general election.
