Recipe of the day: Sticky sesame spare ribs

Sticky sesame spare ribs will yield tender sticky goodness without having to marinate overnight, but you’ll need a quick marinade in just 20 minutes.

  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 cloves of garlic

  • 3 teaspoons of sesame seeds
  • 4 onions, chopped

Method

  1. Place the rack of ribs in a large pot of water with the bay leaves, garlic cloves and salt. Boil for 40 minutes.
  2. Mix the Royco Spare Rib Marinade according to the instructions on the package. Toast the sesame seeds in a dry pan over low heat until golden and set aside.
  3. Remove the ribs from the pot when they are soft enough to pierce with a knife, but have not yet fallen off the bone. Place the ribs in a casserole dish and coat in Royco Spare Rib Marinade. Leave to marinade for 20 minutes.
  4. Grill the ribs in a pan until one side is brown and sticky. Plate the ribs and garnish with toasted sesame seeds and scallions.
  5. Serve with your favorite braai side.
