Maddow Recounts A Story From The 1930’s and 1940’s Where Powerful Members Of Congress Succeeded In Quashing Trials Involving 28 Members Of Congress Who Colluded With Germany To Spread Nazi Propaganda In America.

Trump makes references to Nazi’s every chance he gets. The latest example is a video on his social mediabplatform Truth Social referenced the ” Third Reich” along with the phrases  “Trump Wins” and ” Economy booms.”  Trump polices his platform as much as a pre-teen girl does on “X,” so his campaign’s claim that. he knew nothing about the video is unbelievable. White Nationalists love him. What explains that? Could it be because he called Nazis marching in Charlottesville In 2017 “fine people”? Maybe they love him because he called for them to ” stand back and stand by” during the debate with Joe Biden. Maybe they know he owned a copy of Mein Kampf and said,”Hitler did some good things.” It should disturb every American that Donald Trump is admired by Nazis, White Supremacists and Vladimir Putin.

Maddow connected the 1940s story of the 28 members of Congress accused of collaborating with Germans on how to spread Nazi propaganda with the parade of Congressmen showing up to Trump’s trial to attack our system of justice. Her book, Prelude, is a comprehensive historical account of the Nazi/fascist movement of the 30s and 40s in America. The tolerance for Nazis, white supremacists, and Russian- aligned members of Congress is dangerous. This week, members of Congress showed up at the election interference trial dressed like Trump and broke the gag order for him. They attacked the judge, jury, and the trial and sent the message to MAGA that America’s justice system is corrupt and unfair.

Trump’s entourage of congressional foot-soldiers is remiscent of the Nazi sympathizing America First movement in the 30’s and 40’s. They felt entitled and emboldened by Trump’s to leave their responsibilities in Washington and stage an un-American episode on the never-ending reality show of Trump’s embarrassing trial moments. Americans were shocked and saddened to see these Republicans trashing our justice system prior to a verdict being reached and without full knowledge of the evidence. These men looked like emasculated hostages desperate for Trump’s approval. They are followers, not leaders.
Rachel Maddow’s writing and reporting on the history of Nazi sympathizing and fascism in America draws a frightening comparison to Trump and the autocratic MAGA movement leads. She points out how Trump echoes  the words of Hitler, excessively repeats lies and conspiracies theories, vilifies non- white, non- Christian people, and admires the power and behaviors  of dictators like Benito Mussolini, Adolph Hitler, Vladimir Putin, and Kim Jong Un. He aspires to be president for life. He wants to control all branches of the government. The people he plans to put in power are aligned with white nationalism. He plans to police the behaviors of pregnant women and punish them for seeking an abortion or using abortion medication to terminate their pregnancy? He wants to put immigrants in ” camps.” Does that sound like America?

THE 2024 ELECTION IS ABOUT VOTING FOR DEMOCRACY V  AUTOCRACY. DEMOCRACY PRESERVES RIGHTS. AUTOCRACY ELIMINATES OR RESTRICTS RIGHTS. IN AUTOCRACIES, GUN RIGHTS PALE IN COMPARISON TO AMERICA’S LiBERAL GUN LAWS. AUTOCRACIES RIG ELECTIONS AND RESTRICT ACCESS TO VOTING. TRUMP AND HIS FOLLOWERS AND POLITICAL ALLIES KNOW HE LOST THE ELECTION. HOWEVER. DO THEY REALIZE BY SUPPORTING HIM THEY ARE SAYING GOOD-BYE TO DEMOCRACY AND WELCOMING A RUSSIAN-LIKE AUTOCRACY?⁸
